 4.  Apple Watch Ultra 2

Indeed, while the iPhone 16 series was the grand finale of the event, we’ve listed it first due to its prominence.

1. iPhone 16 / iPhone 16 Plus

iPhone 16 / iPhone 16 Plus

The new iPhone has:

 ● Aerospace-grade aluminum

 ● 85% recycled content in the enclosure

 ● Two size options: 6.1 inches for iPhone 16 and 6.7 inches for iPhone 16 Plus

 ● Customizable action buttons (for example, flashlight at night and calendar during day)

 ● All-new “camera control” button to provide instant access to camera with one click, as well as the ability to adjust various camera features by sliding your finger

 ● A brand-new A18 chip created for iPhone 16, optimized for running large generative models and with a 2x faster neural engine

 ● New 48-megapixel camera, 4x the resolution of iPhone 14

 ● New ultrawide camera that allows for automatic focus and more light capture in low-light situations

 ● Spatial photos

 ● Customizable, pinnable collections in iOS 18 photo gallery

Apple said the new A18 chip created for iPhone 16 has 3-nanometer technology and four efficiency cores, which are used in nearly every experience on iPhone, including Apple Intelligence. The chip delivers up to 30% higher sustained performance for gaming, Apple said.

It is also up to 60% faster than the CPU in iPhone 12, and the speed challenges high-end desktop PCs, Apple said, adding that the GPU on the iPhone 16 is up to 40% faster than in the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus start at $799 and $899, respectively.

2. iPhone 16 Pro/Max

According to CEO Tim Cook, the new handsets are “built around Apple Intelligence from the ground up.” Along with the base-level models, the company debuted the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, which both feature the new A18 Chip.

The Pro Displays are now available in 6.3- and 6.9-inch displays. The body is made of grade five titanium, available in four different colors. As with the 16, the battery size has increased, with the Max model sporting the line’s longest-ever life, according to the company.

The A18 Pro has a 16-core CPU, while the new GPU offers 2x faster ray tracing in games, according to the company. Apple says the chip is also more power efficient than last year’s model, while offering faster data transfer speeds via USB.

As with the 16, the new Pro models feature a devoted camera button. The camera array has been updated as well, with significantly faster shutter speeds. The main and ultra-wide cameras are 48 megapixels. The latter can shoot micro images, while the third camera — a telephoto — offers 5x “optical quality” telephoto shots.

The camera control has been upgraded as well, with new “pro” features that offer improved control over things like color grading. The phone can shoot 4K video at 120 frames a second. This allows for improved slow-motion shooting; notably the playback speed can be toggled after the video is shot.

Users can also capture Spatial Audio while shooting video; the sound quality is improved via “studio quality” microphones. Users can switch between audio mixes after capture, which means you can, say, isolate in-frame audio while drowning out ambient noise.

An update to Voice Memos makes it possible to layer tracks. In the example given, a user sings over a music track as it plays back through the speakers. When played back, the instrumental track is removed and the voice isolated.

The 16 Pro starts at $999, while the Pro Max runs $1,119 and up. Preorder opens Friday. The handsets start shipping on September 20.

3.Apple Watch Series 10

Apple Watch Series 10

Leading the lineup at the event, the Apple Watch Series 10 is touted as the thinnest and largest-screen Apple Watch to date. Cook highlighted that this new model features the largest and most advanced display ever seen on an Apple Watch, even surpassing the Watch Ultra 2 in size. The display is made from durable Ion-X glass, offering an expansive view without compromising content visibility or ease of text input.

The Series 10 boasts a wide-angle OLED screen that enhances picture accuracy from various angles, with brightness improving up to 40% at different viewing angles. It supports an always-on display that refreshes every second. Despite its larger screen, it is the thinnest Apple Watch yet, measuring only 9.7 mm thick—almost 10% thinner than the Series 9.

To achieve this slim profile, Apple has reduced the size of several internal components. The speaker system, redesigned to be 30% smaller, now handles music and podcast playback efficiently. The new metal back integrates various antennas, including a cellular antenna, while maintaining 50m water resistance. It also features a larger charging coil that allows for an 80% charge in just 30 minutes, making it the fastest-charging Apple Watch.

Apple Watch Series 10

The Series 10 comes in three colors: Jet Black, Silver, and Rose Gold, with a polished aluminum finish and nano-silica polishing. There’s also a titanium version available in Natural, Gold, and Slate colors, which is 10% lighter than previous models.

Performance is enhanced with the new S10 SIP chip and a quad-core neural engine, supporting various smart features like double-tap gestures, on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic fitness tracking. Health functionalities remain a priority, with watchOS 11 introducing new health and fitness insights, including crash detection, fall detection, and sleep apnea monitoring, with plans to expand support to Series 9 and Ultra 2 later.

The Apple Watch Series 10 also includes a built-in depth gauge and water temperature sensor, making it suitable for diving. Starting at $399, with cellular models at $499, preorders begin today, with availability on September 20.

4. Apple Watch Ultra 2

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has the “most accurate GPS in a sports watch,” Apple said, marketing it as the perfect companion for workout enthusiasts.

The watch offers:

 ● Depth gauge for scuba

 ● Dual-frequency GPS

 ● Advanced positioning software

 ● Pacing features

 ● Custom workouts

 ● Automatic stroke detection and lap count for swimmers

 ● Advanced compass app that includes latitude, longitude, waypoints and backtrack, as well as offline maps with turn-by-turn directions even when iPhone isn’t nearby

The watch starts at $799, and customers can preorder it now. It will be available on Sept. 20.

5. AirPods 4

AirPods 4

As anticipated, Apple introduced the all-new AirPods 4 at the event, describing them as "the most comfortable AirPods to date."

The earbuds are equipped with the Apple H2 chip and a new acoustic architecture, supporting personalized spatial audio. The H2 chip collaborates with a custom driver and amplifier to deliver crisp, clear highs and deep, rich bass. It also utilizes a powerful adaptive algorithm to process sound more quickly, immersing users in a high-fidelity audio experience.

One of the standout features of the AirPods 4 is their new, compact charging case—the smallest ever for AirPods. It comes with a USB-C port and supports Qi and MagSafe wireless charging, offering up to 30 hours of battery life.

Additionally, Apple has released the first open-fit noise-canceling AirPods 4, featuring Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, and Adaptive Audio.

The AirPods 4 are priced at $129, with the noise-canceling version available for $179. They will be available for purchase starting September 20.

6. New AirPods Max

New AirPods Max

After nearly four years, Apple has finally updated the AirPods Max, though the updates are rather modest, with only three notable changes.

 ● First, the color options have been expanded, now available in Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Starlight.

 ● Second, the charging port has been upgraded to USB-C.

 ● Third, thanks to iOS 18, the new AirPods Max supports personalized spatial audio.

The new AirPods Max are priced at $549 and will be available starting September 20.

7. AirPods Pro 2

7.AirPods Pro 2

While there wasn't a new version of AirPods Pro launched today, the AirPods Pro 2 did make an appearance at the event due to its upcoming health-related features.

According to Apple, these new features focus primarily on hearing health, such as Active Hearing Protection. Leveraging machine learning, the noise cancellation feature can block out noise while preserving important details.

Additionally, a clinical-grade hearing test will be available, allowing users to perform a validated hearing test using AirPods and an iPhone. If hearing loss is detected, the AirPods Pro 2 can serve as a clinical-grade, over-the-counter hearing aid. A personalized hearing profile will then be created and applied across all your devices for music, movies, and other audio.

These hearing aid functionalities are currently under review by the FDA and other regulatory bodies and will roll out in over 100 markets soon.

In conclusion, the 2024 Apple iPhone 16 Event was packed with exciting announcements, from the innovative iPhone 16 series to the enhanced Apple Watch and AirPods lineup, proving once again that Apple remains at the forefront of technology and consumer trends.
